Romans 10
Brothers, my heart's desire and my supplication to God on behalf of them is for salvation.
For I bear witness to them that they have zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.
For being ignorant of the righteousness of God and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they did not submit to the righteousness of God.
For Moses writes concerning the righteousness that is from the law: the person who does these things will live by them.
The righteousness from faith, however, thus speaks: 'Do not say in your heart, Who will ascend into heaven?' — that is, to bring Christ down
or: Who will descend into the abyss? that is, to bring Christ up from the dead.
But what does it say? 'Near you is the word, in your mouth and in your heart' — that is, the word of faith that we proclaim
because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses unto salvation.
For the Scripture says: 'Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.'
For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek — for the same Lord of all is being rich toward all those who call upon him.
For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in one of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
And how will they proclaim unless they are sent? Just as it has been written: 'How beautiful are the feet of those who proclaim good things!'
But not all have obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says: 'Lord, who has believed our report?'
So then faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
But I say: did they not hear? Indeed, into all the earth their sound has gone out, and to the ends of the inhabited world their words.
But I ask: Did Israel not know? First Moses says: 'I will provoke you to jealousy by those who are not a nation; by a foolish nation I will make you angry.'
And Isaiah is very bold and says: 'I was found by those not seeking me; I became manifest to those not inquiring after me.'
But to Israel he says: 'All day long I have stretched out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people.'
