Psalms 9

To the director: according to Muth-labben. A psalm of David. I will give thanks to the LORD with all my heart; I will recount all your wondrous works.

I will rejoice and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.

When my enemies turn back, they stumble and perish from before you.

For you have upheld my right and my cause; you sat on the throne, judging in righteousness.

You rebuked the nations; you destroyed the wicked; their name you have blotted out forever and ever.

The enemy has come to an end — desolations forever; and cities you uprooted; their memory has perished — they themselves!

And the LORD sits enthroned forever; he has established his throne for judgment.

And he will judge the world in righteousness — he will govern the peoples with equity.

And the LORD will be a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of distress.

And let those who know your name trust in you, for you have not forsaken those who seek you, O LORD.

Sing praise to the LORD, who dwells in Zion; declare his deeds among the peoples.

For he who requires bloodshed has remembered them — he has not forgotten the cry of the afflicted and humble.

Have mercy on me, O LORD; see my affliction from those who hate me — you who lift me up from the gates of death.

so that I may recount all your praises in the gates of Daughter Zion; I will rejoice in your salvation.

The nations sank into the pit they made; in the net that they hid, their foot was caught.

The LORD has made himself known; he has executed judgment; the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah.

The wicked will return to Sheol — all the nations who forget God.

For the needy will not always be forgotten, and the hope of the humble and poor will not perish forever.

Arise, O LORD; do not let mortal man prevail; let the nations be judged before your face.

Set, O LORD, fear upon them — let the nations know that they are but mortal. Selah.
