Psalms 7

A Shiggaion of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning the affairs of Cush, a Benjaminite. O LORD my God, in you I have taken refuge — save me from all who pursue me, and rescue me.

lest he tear my soul like a lion, tearing apart, with no one to deliver.

O LORD my God, if I have done this, if there is wrong in my hands —

if I have repaid my ally with bad, or plundered my adversary without cause —

Let the enemy pursue my soul and overtake, and trample my life to the ground, and lay my glory in the dust. Selah.

Arise, O LORD, in your anger; lift yourself up against the fury of my adversaries; and awake for me — you have commanded judgment.

Let the assembly of peoples surround you — and over it, return on high.

The LORD will judge the peoples; judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness and according to my integrity that is upon me.

Let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, and establish the righteous, you who examine hearts and minds, O righteous God.

My shield is upon God, who saves the upright of heart.

God is a righteous judge — and God is indignant every day.

If he does not repent, he will whet his sword; his bow he has bent and made ready.

And for him he has prepared his weapons of death; his arrows he makes for those who ardently pursue.

Behold, he labors with wickedness, conceives trouble, and gives birth to falsehood.

A pit he dug and scooped it out — and he fell into the pit he made.

His trouble returns upon his own head — and upon his crown, his violence comes down.

I will give thanks to the LORD according to his righteousness, and I will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.
