Psalms 6

To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments, upon the Sheminith. A psalm of David. O LORD, do not rebuke me in your anger, and do not discipline me in your wrath.

Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am faint — heal me, O LORD, for my bones are dismayed.

And my soul is greatly terrified; but you, O LORD — how long?

Return, O LORD; deliver my soul; save me for the sake of your steadfast love.

For in death there is no remembrance of you; in Sheol, who will give you thanks?

I am weary with my groaning; every night I flood my bed; with my tears I dissolve my couch.

My eye has wasted away from grief — it has grown old because of all my adversaries.

Depart from me, all workers of iniquity — for the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping.

The LORD has heard my supplication; the LORD will receive my prayer.

Let all my enemies be ashamed and greatly dismayed — let them turn back, let them be ashamed in an instant.
