Psalms 2

Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot in vain?

Let us tear apart their bonds and cast their cords from us.

He who sits in the heavens laughs — the Lord mocks at them.

Then he will speak to them in his anger, and in his burning anger he will terrify them.

But as for me, I have set my king upon Zion, my holy mountain.

I will tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to me, ‘You are my son; I today have begotten you.’

Ask of me, and I will give the nations as your inheritance and the ends of the earth as your possession.

You will break them with a rod of iron; like a potter's vessel you will shatter them.

And now, O kings, be wise; accept instruction, you judges of the earth.

Serve the LORD with fear — and rejoice with trembling.

Kiss the son, lest he become angry and you perish in the way; for his anger blazes quickly. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
