Matthew 8
And when he had come down from the mountain, great crowds followed him.
And behold, a leper, having come to him, was bowing down before him, saying, Lord, if you are willing, you are able to cleanse me.
And stretching out his hand, Jesus touched him, saying, 'I am willing; be cleansed.' And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
And Jesus says to him, 'See that you tell no one; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.'
Now when he had entered into Capernaum, a centurion came to him, appealing to him
and saying, 'Lord, my servant has been laid up in the house, paralyzed, terribly tormented.'
And Jesus says to him, I myself will come and heal him.
And the centurion answered and said, 'Lord, I am not worthy that you should come under my roof; but only say a word, and my servant will be healed.
For I too am a man under authority, having soldiers under myself, and I say to this one, 'Go,' and he goes, and to another, 'Come,' and he comes, and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it.
Now when Jesus heard this, he marveled and said to those following, Truly I say to you, with no one in Israel have I found such great faith.
And I say to you that many will come from east and west and will recline at table with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of the heavens,
But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into the outer darkness; there will be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
And Jesus said to the centurion, 'Go; as you have believed, let it be done for you.' And his servant was healed in that hour.
And when Jesus came into Peter's house, he saw his mother-in-law laid prostrate and fevered.
And he touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she arose and was ministering to him.
And when evening had come, they brought to him many who were demon-possessed, and he cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were ill,
so that what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, saying, He himself took our infirmities and bore our diseases.
Now when Jesus saw a great crowd around him, he gave orders to depart to the other side.
And a scribe, having come to him, said, Teacher, I will follow you wherever you may go.
And Jesus says to him, 'The foxes have holes and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.'
And another of his disciples said to him, 'Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father.'
But Jesus says to him, Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead.
And when he had climbed into the boat, his disciples followed him.
And behold, a great storm arose on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he himself was sleeping.
And his disciples came and woke him, saying, 'Lord, save us; we are perishing!'
And he says to them, 'Why are you afraid, you of little faith?' Then he arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there came a great calm.
And the men marveled, saying, 'What sort of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?'
And when he had come to the other side, to the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men met him, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly violent, so that no one was able to pass by that way.
And behold, they cried out, saying, What to us and to you, Jesus, Son of God? Have you come here before the time to torment us?
Now far off from them there was a herd of many pigs feeding.
And the demons were begging him, 'If you cast us out, send us into the herd of pigs.'
And he said to them, Go. And they, having gone out, went away into the herd of pigs; and behold, the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea, and perished in the waters.
And those who fed them fled, and going away into the city they reported everything, including the matter of the demon-possessed men.
And behold, all the city went out to meet Jesus, and when they saw him, they begged him to depart from their region.
