Matthew 6

But beware of practicing your righteousness before men in order to be seen by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in the heavens.

Therefore, when you do your charitable giving, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be glorified by people. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.

But when you do charitable giving, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

so that your charitable giving may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will himself reward you in the open.

And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites; for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.

But you, when you pray, enter into your room, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you in the open.

And when praying, do not babble like the pagans; for they think that they will be heard for their many words.

Therefore do not be like them, for your Father God knows what things you have need of before you ask him.

Thus therefore you yourselves pray: Our Father who is in the heavens, hallowed be your name;

Your kingdom come; your will be done, as in heaven so also upon the earth.

And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors;

For if you forgive people their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you;

But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

And whenever you fast, do not be gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces so that they may appear to people as fasting. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.

But you, when fasting, anoint your head and wash your face,

so that you may not appear to people as fasting, but to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you in the open.

But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor corrosion destroys, and where thieves do not break in and steal;

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light;

But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

No one is able to serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You are not able to serve God and Mammon.

Because of this I say to you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body than clothing?

Look at the birds of the air, that they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?

And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin.

But I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed like one of these.

But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is here and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’

For after all these things the Gentiles seek; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious about itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
