Matthew 24

And Jesus, having gone out from the temple, was going on his way, and his disciples came to point out to him the buildings of the temple.

But Jesus answered and said to them: Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.

But as he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying: Tell us, when will these things be, and what is the sign of your coming and of the consummation of the age?

And Jesus answering said to them: See that no one leads you astray.

For many will come in my name, saying, I am the Christ, and they will deceive many.

But you are about to hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not alarmed; for all this must take place, but the end is not yet.

For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and pestilences and earthquakes in various places.

But all these things are the beginning of birth pains.

Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and will kill you, and you will be hated by all the nations on account of my name.

And then many will fall away, and they will betray one another and hate one another;

and many false prophets will arise and will lead many astray.

And because lawlessness will be multiplied, the love of many will grow cold.

But the one who endures to the end, this one will be saved.

And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed in all the inhabited world for a testimony to all the nations; and then the end will come.

When therefore you see the abomination of desolation, spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),

then let those in Judea flee to the mountains;

the one on the housetop, let him not come down to take the things out of his house,

and the one in the field, let him not turn back to take his cloak.

But woe to those who are pregnant and to those nursing infants in those days!

But pray that your flight may not happen in winter, nor on a Sabbath.

For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will be.

And unless those days had been shortened, no flesh would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.

Then if anyone says to you: Behold, here is the Christ! or: Here he is! do not believe it.

For false christs and false prophets will arise, and they will give great signs and wonders, so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

Behold, I have told you beforehand.

If therefore they should say to you, 'Behold, he is in the wilderness,' do not go forth; 'Behold, he is in the inner rooms,' do not believe it.

For just as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

For wherever the carcass is, there the vultures will be gathered.

But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

And he will send out his angels with a great trumpet call, and they will gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

Now from the fig tree learn the parable: When its branch already becomes tender and the leaves put forth, you know that summer is near.

So also you, when you see all these things, know that he is near, at the very doors.

Truly I say to you that this generation will by no means pass away until all these things take place.

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will certainly not pass away.

But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of the heavens, nor the Son, except my Father alone.

For as the days of Noah were, so also will be the coming of the Son of Man.

For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered into the ark,

And they did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will be the coming of the Son of Man.

Then two men will be in the field; one is taken and one is left.

Two women grinding at the mill; one is taken and one is left.

Watch therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord comes.

But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch of the night the thief was coming, he would have watched and would not have let his house be broken into.

Therefore you also be ready; for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man comes.

Who then is the faithful and wise servant whom the master has set over his household, to give them their food at the proper time?

Blessed is that servant whom his master, having come, will find so doing.

Truly I say to you that he will set him over all his possessions.

But if that evil servant should say in his heart, My master delays his coming,

and begins to beat his fellow servants, and eats and drinks with the drunkards,

the master of that servant will come on a day he does not expect and at an hour he does not know.

and will cut him in two and assign him his portion with the hypocrites; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
