Mark 10
And from there, setting out, he came into the regions of Judea and beyond the Jordan; and crowds came together to him again, and as he was accustomed, he taught them again.
And having come to him, the Pharisees were questioning him whether it is lawful for a husband to divorce a wife, testing him.
And answering, he said to them, 'What did Moses command you?'
And they said: 'Moses permitted [one] to write a certificate of divorce and to dismiss [her].'
And Jesus answering said to them: Because of your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment.
But from the beginning of creation, male and female God made them.
'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and will be joined to his wife,'
and the two will become one flesh; so they are no longer two but one flesh.
What therefore God has joined together, let man not separate.
And in the house again the disciples were questioning him concerning this.
And he says to them, 'Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her.'
And if she, having divorced her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.
And they were bringing little children to him, that he might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who were bringing them.
But Jesus, having seen it, was indignant and said to them: Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for of such as these is the kingdom of God.
Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will certainly not enter it.
And having embraced them, he was blessing them, laying his hands on them.
And as he was going out onto the road, one man ran up and knelt before him and was asking him, 'Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?'
And Jesus said to him: Why do you call me good? No one is good except one -- God.
You know the commandments: 'Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not bear false witness, do not defraud, honor your father and mother.'
And he, answering, said to him: 'Teacher, all these things I have kept from my youth.'
And Jesus, having looked at him intently, loved him and said to him: 'One thing you lack; go, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me, having taken up the cross.'
But he was appalled at the word and went away grieving, for he had many possessions.
And having looked around, Jesus says to his disciples: How with difficulty will those having riches enter into the kingdom of God!
And the disciples were astonished at his words. And Jesus, answering again, says to them: 'Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter the kingdom of God!'
It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.
And they were exceedingly astonished, saying among themselves: And who is able to be saved?
And Jesus, having looked at them intently, says: 'With men it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God.'
And Peter began to say to him: 'Look, we have left all things and have followed you.'
And Jesus answered and said, 'Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or wife or children or lands for my sake and for the sake of the gospel,
who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this season -- houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions -- and in the age that is coming, eternal life.
But many who are first will be last, and the last will be first.
They were on the road going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was going on ahead of them; and they were astonished, and those following were afraid. And taking the Twelve aside again, he began to tell them the things that were about to happen to him.
that behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles.
And they will mock him and spit upon him and flog him and kill him, and after three days he will rise.
And James and John, the two sons of Zebedee, come up to him, saying to him: 'Teacher, we desire that you do for us whatever we ask.'
And he said to them, 'What do you want me to do for you?'
And they said to him: Grant us that one may sit at your right and one at your left in your glory.
And Jesus said to them: 'You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, or to be baptized with the baptism with which I am being baptized?'
And they said to him: 'We are able.' And Jesus said to them: 'The cup that I drink you will drink, and the baptism with which I am baptized you will be baptized with;'
But to sit at my right or at my left is not mine to give, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared.
And having heard, the ten began to be indignant about James and John.
And Jesus, having called them to himself, says to them: 'You know that those who are considered rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.'
But it is not so among you; rather, whoever wishes to become great among you is to be your servant,
and whoever wants to be first among you will be slave of all.
For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
And they come to Jericho. And as he was going out from Jericho -- and his disciples and a large crowd -- Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting beside the road.
And having heard that it is Jesus the Nazarene, he began to cry out and say: 'Son of David, Jesus, have mercy on me!'
And many were rebuking him, that he might be silent; but he cried out all the more, 'Son of David, have mercy on me!'
And having stopped, Jesus said: Call him. And they call the blind man, saying to him: Take courage, rise up, he calls you.
And he, throwing off his cloak, leaped up and came to Jesus.
And answering him, Jesus said, 'What do you want me to do for you?' And the blind man said to him, 'Rabboni, that I may see again.'
And Jesus said to him: 'Go; your faith has saved you.' And immediately he received his sight and was following him on the road.
