Luke 19
And having entered, he was passing through Jericho.
And look, there was a man named Zacchaeus; and he himself was a chief tax collector, and he himself was rich.
And he was seeking to see who Jesus was, and he was not able to, because of the crowd, for he was short in stature.
So running on ahead, he climbed up into a sycamore-fig tree to see him, for he was about to pass that way.
And as he came to the place, Jesus, looking up, saw him and said to him, 'Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house.'
And hurrying, he came down and welcomed him joyfully.
And when all saw it, they were grumbling, saying that he had entered to lodge with a sinful man.
And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, 'Look, half of my possessions, Lord, I give to the poor; and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I repay it fourfold.'
Then Jesus said to him, 'Today salvation has come to this house, inasmuch as he also is a son of Abraham.'
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.
Now while they were hearing these things, he proceeded to tell a parable, because he was near Jerusalem, and because they supposed that the kingdom of God was going to appear immediately.
He said therefore: 'A man of noble birth traveled to a distant country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return.
And having called ten of his own servants, he gave them ten minas and said to them: 'Do business with these until I return.'
But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, 'We do not want this man to reign over us.'
And it came to pass that when he returned having received the kingdom, he summoned these servants to himself to whom he had given the money, in order to know what each had gained by trading.
And the first came, saying, 'Lord, your mina has earned ten more minas.'
And he said to him, 'Well done, good servant! Because you were faithful in a very small matter, have authority over ten cities.'
And the second came, saying, 'Your mina, lord, has made five minas.'
And to this one also he said, 'And you, be over five cities.'
And another came, saying, 'Lord, behold, your mina, which I was keeping stored away in a napkin.'
For I was afraid of you, because you are a harsh man; you take up what you did not put down, and you reap what you did not sow.'
Then he said to him, 'From your own mouth I will judge you, wicked servant! You knew that I am a harsh man, taking up what I did not lay down and reaping what I did not sow.'
'And why did you not give my money to the bank? Then when I came back, I would have collected it with interest.'
And he said to those standing by, 'Take the mina from him and give it to the one having the ten minas.'
And they said to him, 'Lord, he already has ten minas.'
For I say to you that to everyone who has, it will be given; but from the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.
'But as for these enemies of mine, those who did not want me to reign over them — bring them here and slaughter them before me.'
And having said these things, he was going on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.
And when he drew near to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mountain called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,
saying, 'Go into the village opposite, in which as you enter you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat; and having untied it, bring it.'
And if anyone asks you, 'Why are you untying it?' say to him thus: 'The Lord has need of it.'
And when those who were sent departed, they found it just as he had told them.
And as they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, 'Why are you untying the colt?'
And they said, 'The Lord has need of it.'
And they led it to Jesus, and having thrown their garments on the colt, they set Jesus on it.
And as he was going, they were spreading their garments on the road.
And as he was now drawing near to the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen,
saying, 'Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest!'
But some of the Pharisees from the crowd said to him, 'Teacher, rebuke your disciples.'
And answering, he said to them, 'I say to you that if these are silent, the stones will cry out.'
And when he drew near, seeing the city, he wept over it.
saying, 'If you had known, even in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.'
For days will come upon you, and your enemies will throw up a palisade against you and surround you and hem you in on every side,
and they will dash you to the ground and your children within you, and will not leave stone upon stone within you, because you did not know the time of your visitation.
Then entering the temple, he began to drive out those who were selling in it, and those who were buying.
saying to them, 'It is written: And my house shall be a house of prayer; but you have made it a den of robbers.'
And he was teaching daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes were seeking to destroy him, and so were the leading men of the people,
but they could not find what they might do, for all the people were hanging upon him, listening.
