Leviticus 12

¹And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

²Speak to the sons of Israel, saying: When a woman conceives and gives birth to a male, she shall be unclean seven days; as in the days of her menstrual flow of sickness she shall be unclean.

³And on the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.

⁴And thirty-three days she shall remain in the blood of her purification; she shall not touch any holy thing, and to the sanctuary she shall not come, until the days of her purification are fulfilled.

⁵But if she gives birth to a female, she shall be unclean two weeks as in her menstrual impurity, and she shall remain sixty-six days upon blood of purification.

⁶And when the days of her purification are completed, for a son or for a daughter, she shall bring a yearling lamb for a burnt offering and a young dove or a turtledove for a sin offering to the entrance of the tent of meeting, to the priest.

⁷And he shall present it before the LORD, and he shall make atonement for her, and she shall be clean from the spring of her blood. This is the instruction for one who bears a male or a female.

⁸But if her hand cannot find the sufficiency of a sheep, she shall take two turtledoves or two young pigeons, one for a burnt offering and one for a sin offering, and the priest shall make atonement for her, and she shall be clean.
