Hebrews 6
Therefore, leaving behind the elementary teaching about Christ, let us press on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,
of teaching about baptisms, laying on of hands, resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.
And this we will do, if God permits.
For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, have tasted of the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit,
and having tasted the good word of God and the powers of the coming age —
and then have fallen away — to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying again the Son of God for themselves and holding him up to contempt.
For land that has drunk in the rain coming upon it often, and produces vegetation useful for those for whose sake it is also cultivated, partakes of blessing from God;
but land bearing thorns and thistles is worthless and near to a curse, whose end is burning.
But we are persuaded of better things concerning you, beloved — things that accompany salvation — even though we speak in this way.
For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love that you have shown toward his name, having ministered to the saints and still ministering.
Now we desire each of you to show the same earnestness toward the full assurance of hope until the end.
so that you may not be sluggish, but rather imitators of those who through faith and steadfastness are inheriting the promises.
For God, having made a promise to Abraham, since He had no one greater to swear by, swore by Himself.
saying, 'Surely, blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.'
And thus, having patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
For people indeed swear by the greater, and the oath is an end to all their dispute, for confirmation.
In which, wishing even more abundantly to show to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, God interposed with an oath,
so that through two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope that lies before us.
which we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and firm, and entering into that within the veil,
where Jesus has entered as forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.
