Exodus 24
And to Moses he said, 'Come up to the LORD, you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and bow down from a distance.'
And Moses alone shall draw near to the LORD, but they shall not draw near, and the people shall not go up with him.
And Moses came and recounted to the people all the words of YHWH and all the ordinances, and all the people answered with one voice and said: All the words that YHWH has spoken we will do.
And Moses wrote down all the words of the LORD. And he rose early in the morning and built an altar at the foot of the mountain and twelve standing stones for the twelve tribes of Israel.
And he sent young men of the Israelites, and they offered up burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings to the LORD — young bulls.
And Moses took half of the blood and placed it in basins, and the other half of the blood he dashed against the altar.
And he took the scroll of the covenant and read it in the ears of the people, and they said: All that the LORD has spoken we will do and we will obey.
And Moses took the blood and dashed it toward the people, and said: Behold the blood of the covenant that YHWH has cut with you on the basis of all these words.
Then Moses went up, and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel.
And they saw the God of Israel, and under his feet was like the work of a sapphire pavement, and like the very heavens for clearness.
Yet against the nobles of the children of Israel he did not stretch out his hand; they beheld God, and they ate and drank.
And the LORD said to Moses, 'Come up to me on the mountain and be there, and I will give you the stone tablets, and the instruction and the commandment that I have written, to teach them.'
And Moses arose, with Joshua his minister, and Moses went up to the mountain of God.
And to the elders he said: Wait here for us until we return to you; and behold, Aaron and Hur are with you — whoever has matters, let him approach them.
Then Moses went up onto the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain.
And the glory of YHWH dwelt upon Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days; and on the seventh day he called to Moses from the midst of the cloud.
And the appearance of the glory of the LORD was like a devouring fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the sons of Israel.
And Moses entered into the midst of the cloud and went up on the mountain, and Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.
