Ephesians 5

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.

and walk in love, just as Christ also loved us and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

But sexual immorality and all impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints.

and filthiness and foolish talking or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather thanksgiving.

For know this, recognizing that every sexually immoral person or impure person or greedy person, who is an idolater, has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

Therefore do not become partakers with them.

for you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light

for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth —

discerning what is pleasing to the Lord.

And do not participate in the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even expose them;

for the things being done by them in secret are shameful even to speak of.

But everything being exposed by the light is made visible;

Therefore it says: 'Awake, O you who sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine upon you.'

Therefore take heed carefully how you walk, not as unwise but as wise,

redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Because of this, do not become foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

And do not get drunk with wine, in which is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit.

speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord,

giving thanks always for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God and Father;

submitting to one another in the fear of Christ.

Wives, to your own husbands, as to the Lord;

for the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is the head of the church, and he himself is the Savior of the body;

But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives to their own husbands in everything.

Husbands, love your wives, just as also Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,

so that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,

so that he himself might present to himself the church in glory, not having spot or wrinkle or any of such things, but that she might be holy and blameless.

So also husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself.

for no one ever hated his own flesh, but he nourishes and cherishes it, just as also Christ the church,

"For this reason a man will leave his father and his mother and will be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh."

This mystery is great, but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church.

Nevertheless, let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and the wife that she fear her husband.
