Ephesians 4
I therefore urge you, I the prisoner in the Lord, to walk worthily of the calling to which you were called,
with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love,
being diligent to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace,
one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling;
one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
Now this, 'he ascended' — what does it mean but that he also descended into the lower parts of the earth?
He who descended is also the very one who ascended far above all the heavens, so that he might fill all things.
And he himself gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as shepherds and teachers,
to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ,
until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the full knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ,
so that we may no longer be children, tossed by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human trickery, by craftiness in deceitful scheming.
but speaking the truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him, who is the head, Christ,
from whom the whole body, being joined and held together by every ligament of supply, according to the working in measure of each individual part, makes the body's growth for the building up of itself in love.
This therefore I say and insist in the Lord, that you no longer walk just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind,
being darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart,
who, having become callous, gave themselves up to licentiousness for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness.
But you yourselves did not learn Christ in this way,
assuming that you heard him and were taught in him, just as truth is in Jesus,
that you are to put off, concerning your former way of life, the old man, who is being corrupted in accordance with the desires of deceit,
and to be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
and to put on the new man, who has been created according to God in righteousness and holiness of truth.
Therefore, having put off falsehood, let each one speak truth with his neighbor, because we are members of one another.
Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on the cause of your anger,
and do not give place to the devil.
Let the one who steals steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his own hands what is good, so that he may have something to share with the one who has need.
Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but only that which is good for edification of the need, so that it may give grace to those who hear.
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Let all bitterness and rage and anger and clamor and slander be removed from you, along with all malice.
And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.
