Deuteronomy 3

Then we turned and went up by the way of Bashan, and Og the king of Bashan came out against us -- he and all his people -- to battle at Edrei.

And the LORD said to me, Do not fear him, for into your hand I have given him and all his people and his land, and you shall do to him just as you did to Sihon king of the Amorite who dwelt in Heshbon.

So the LORD our God gave into our hand also Og king of Bashan and all his people, and we struck him down until no survivor was left.

And we captured all his cities at that time -- there was no town that we did not take from them -- sixty cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

All these were fortified cities with high walls, double-gated with bars -- besides very many open-country towns.

And we devoted them to destruction, just as we did to Sihon king of Heshbon, devoting to destruction every city -- the men, the women, and the little ones.

And all the livestock and the spoil of the cities we plundered for ourselves.

So we took the land at that time from the hand of the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, from the Wadi Arnon to Mount Hermon.

(The Sidonians call Hermon 'Sirion,' while the Amorites call it 'Senir.')

all the cities of the plateau and all Gilead and all Bashan, as far as Salecah and Edrei, the cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of the Rephaim -- behold, his iron bed, is it not in Rabbah of the sons of Ammon? Nine cubits is its length and four cubits its width, by the cubit of a man.

And this land we took possession of at that time: from Aroer, which is by the Wadi Arnon, and half the hill country of Gilead and its cities, I gave to the Reubenites and the Gadites.

And the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to the half-tribe of Manasseh -- the whole district of Argob, all of Bashan, that is called the land of the Rephaites.

Jair son of Manasseh took all the region of Argob as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maacathites, and he called them -- Bashan -- after his own name, Havvoth-jair, to this day.

And to Machir I gave Gilead.

And to the Reubenites and the Gadites I gave from Gilead as far as the Wadi Arnon (the middle of the wadi is the boundary), and up to the Jabbok, the wadi, the border of the Ammonites.

the Arabah also, with the Jordan as boundary, from the Sea of Chinnereth to the Sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, below the slopes of Pisgah on the east.

And I commanded you all at that time, saying: The LORD your God has given to you all this land to possess it; armed you shall cross over before your brothers, the sons of Israel, all the able-bodied men.

Only the wives of you all, and the children of you all, and the livestock of you all -- I know that you have much livestock -- shall dwell in the cities of you all that I have given you.

until the LORD gives rest to the brothers of you all, as he has to you, and they also take possession of the land that the LORD your God -- the God of you all -- is giving them beyond the Jordan, and then each man shall return to the possession that I have given you.

And Joshua I commanded at that time, saying: Your eyes have seen all that the LORD your God has done to these two kings; so shall the LORD do to all the kingdoms into which you are crossing over.

Do not fear them, for the Lord, the God of you all, he is the one who fights for you.

And I pleaded with the LORD at that time, saying,

Lord GOD, you have begun to show me your greatness and your strong hand; for what god in heaven or on earth can do works like yours and mighty acts like yours?

Let me cross over, please, and see the good land that is across the Jordan, that good hill country, and the Lebanon.

But the Lord was angry with me on your account and would not listen to me. And the Lord said to me, 'Enough! Speak to me no more about this matter.'

Go up to the top of Pisgah and lift your eyes to the west, and to the north, and to the south, and to the east, and see with your eyes, for you shall not cross this Jordan.

But commission Joshua, and strengthen him and encourage him; for he is the one who will cross over before this people, and he is the one who will give them as an inheritance the land that you will see.

And we remained in the valley opposite Beth-peor.
