Deuteronomy 24

When a man takes a wife and marries her, and if she does not find favor in his eyes because he has found the nakedness of a matter in her, then he shall write her a document of divorce and put it in her hand and send her out of his house.

and she leaves his house and goes and becomes another man's wife,

And if the latter man hates her and writes her a certificate of divorce and places it in her hand and sends her out of his house, or if the latter man who took her as his wife dies,

Her first husband, who sent her away, may not take her back to be his wife after she has been defiled, for it is an abomination before the LORD, and you shall not bring sin upon the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance.

When a man takes a new wife, he shall not go out with the army, nor shall any matter be imposed on him; he shall be free for his house one year, and he shall gladden his wife whom he has taken.

No one shall take a mill or an upper millstone as pledge, for that would be taking a life in pledge.

If a man is found stealing a person from among his brothers of the sons of Israel, and he deals with him as a slave and sells him, then that thief shall die, and you shall purge the evil from your midst.

Take care in the matter of the skin disease, to be very careful and to do according to all that the Levitical priests shall instruct you; as I commanded them, you shall be careful to do.

Remember what the LORD your God did to Miriam on the way, when you came out of Egypt.

When you make a loan of any kind to your neighbor, you shall not go into his house to take his pledge.

You shall stand outside, and the man to whom you are lending shall bring out the pledge to you outside.

And if he is a poor man, you shall not sleep with his pledge.

You shall surely return the pledge to him when the sun sets, that he may sleep in his garment and bless you, and it shall be righteousness to you before the LORD your God.

You shall not oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy, whether from your countrymen or from the sojourner who is in your land, in your gates.

On his day you shall give his wages, and the sun shall not go down upon them, for he is poor and to them he sets his heart; lest he cry out against you to the LORD, and it shall be sin in you.

Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, and children shall not be put to death for their fathers; each one shall be put to death for his own sin.

You shall not pervert the justice due to the sojourner or the fatherless, and you shall not take a widow's garment as a pledge.

But remember that you were a slave in Egypt, and the LORD your God ransomed you from there; therefore I command you to do this thing.

When you reap your harvest in your field and you forget a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to take it; it shall be for the sojourner, for the orphan, and for the widow, so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.

When you beat your olive trees, you shall not go over them again afterward; it shall be for the sojourner, the orphan, and the widow.

When you harvest your vineyard, you shall not glean it after yourself; it shall be for the sojourner, for the orphan, and for the widow.

Remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt; therefore I command you to do this thing.
