Deuteronomy 14
You are sons of the Lord God of you all. You shall not cut yourselves, and you shall not make a bald spot between your eyes for the dead.
For you are a holy people to the LORD your God, and the LORD has chosen you to be for him a treasured possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.
You shall not eat any abomination.
These are the animals that you may eat: ox, sheep of the flock -- lambs -- and goats.
the deer, the gazelle, the roebuck, the wild goat, the ibex, the antelope, and the mountain goat.
And every animal that splits the hoof and divides it into two cloven hooves, and chews the cud among the animals, these you may eat.
But these you shall not eat from among those that bring up the cud and those that divide the split hoof: the camel, and the hare, and the rock badger -- for they bring up the cud, yet the hoof they do not divide; they are unclean to you all.
And the pig, for though it divides the hoof, it does not chew the cud -- it is unclean for you. You shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their carcass.
This you may eat of all that is in the water: everything that has fins and scales you may eat.
And everything that does not have fins and scales you shall not eat; it is unclean to you.
Every clean bird you may eat.
But these are the ones you shall not eat from among them: the eagle, the ossifrage, and the black vulture,
and the glede, and the falcon, and the hawk according to its kind,
and every raven of any kind.
and the ostrich, and the screech owl, and the gull, and the hawk according to its kind.
the little owl, and the great owl, and the barn owl,
the desert owl, the carrion vulture, and the cormorant,
and the stork, and the heron of any kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat.
And every swarming thing of the winged creatures is unclean for you; they shall not be eaten.
Every clean winged creature you may eat.
You shall not eat anything that has died of itself. You may give it to the sojourner who is within your gates, that he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner; for you are a holy people to the LORD your God. You shall not boil a young goat in its mother's milk.
You shall surely tithe all the produce of your seed that comes out from the field, year by year.
And you shall eat before the Lord your God, in the place that he will choose to cause his name to dwell there, the tithe of your grain, your new wine, and your oil, and the firstlings of your cattle and your flock, so that you may learn to fear the Lord your God all the days.
And if the way is too much for you, so that you are not able to carry it, because the place is too far from you that the Lord, your God, shall choose to set his name there, because the Lord, your God, has blessed you,
then you shall turn it into silver and wrap up the silver in your hand and go to the place that the LORD your God will choose.
And you shall give the silver for whatever your soul desires -- for cattle, or for flocks, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatever your soul asks of you -- and you shall eat there before the Lord your God, and you shall rejoice, you and your household.
And the Levite who is within your gates, you shall not forsake him, for he has no portion or inheritance with you.
At the end of three years you shall bring out all the tithe of your produce in that year, and you shall deposit it within your gates.
And the Levite shall come -- for he has no portion or inheritance with you -- and the sojourner, and the orphan, and the widow who are within your gates, and they shall eat and be satisfied, so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hand that you do.
