Deuteronomy 11

And you shall love the LORD your God, and keep his charge, his statutes, his ordinances, and his commandments all the days.

Know today -- for it is not with your children of you all who have not known and who have not seen -- the discipline of the Lord your God, his greatness and his strong hand and his outstretched arm,

his signs and his deeds that he did in the midst of Egypt, to Pharaoh king of Egypt and to all his land --

and what he did to the army of Egypt, to its horses and to its chariots, how he made the waters of the Reed Sea overflow over them as they pursued after you, and the LORD destroyed them to this day —

and what he did to you all in the wilderness, until you all came to this place.

and what he did to Dathan and Abiram, sons of Eliab son of Reuben, whom the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, and their households and their tents and all the living substance that was at their feet, in the midst of all Israel.

For your eyes have seen all the great work of the Lord that he did.

You shall keep the whole commandment that I am commanding you today, so that you may be strong, and go in and possess the land that you are crossing over to possess.

and so that you may prolong your days upon the land that the LORD swore to the fathers of you all to give to them and to their offspring, a land flowing with milk and honey.

For the land that you are entering to possess is not like the land of Egypt, from which you came out, where you would sow your seed and water it by foot, like a garden of vegetables.

But the land that you are crossing over there to possess — a land of mountains and valleys — it drinks water from the rain of the heavens,

a land that the Lord your God cares for; the eyes of the Lord your God are continually on it, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year.

And it shall come to pass, if you truly listen to my commandments that I am commanding you all today, to love the Lord, the God of you all, and to serve him with all the heart of you all and with all the soul of you all,

then I will give the rain of the land of you all in its season, the autumn rain and the spring rain, and you shall gather your grain, your new wine, and your oil,

I will give grass in your field for your livestock, and you shall eat and be satisfied.

Watch yourselves lest the heart of you all be enticed, and you turn aside and serve other gods and bow down to them.

then the anger of the LORD will burn against you, and he will restrain the heavens so that there will be no rain, and the ground will not yield its crops, and you will perish quickly from the good land that the LORD is giving to you.

You shall lay up these words of mine on the heart of you all and on the soul of you all, and you shall bind them as a sign on the hand of you all, and they shall be as phylacteries between the eyes of you all.

And you shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk along the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.

and you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

so that your days may multiply and the days of your children upon the land that the Lord swore to your fathers to give to them, as the days of the heavens above the earth.

For if you carefully keep all this commandment that I am commanding you all to do, to love the Lord, the God of you all, to walk in all his ways and to cleave to him,

then the Lord will dispossess all these nations before you, and you will dispossess nations greater and mightier than you.

Every place on which the sole of the foot of you all treads shall be yours; from the wilderness to Lebanon, and from the River — the River Euphrates — to the western sea shall be the border of you all.

No man will be able to stand before you all; the dread of you all and the fear of you all the Lord, the God of you all, will put upon the face of all the land wherever you tread in it, as he spoke to you.

See, I am setting before you all today a blessing and a curse:

the blessing, if you listen to the commandments of the Lord, God of you all, that I am commanding you today.

and the curse if you do not obey the commandments of the LORD the God of you all, and you turn aside from the way that I am commanding you today, to go after other gods whom you have not known.

And it shall come to pass, when the Lord your God brings you into the land that you are entering to possess, you shall set the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal.

Are they not across the Jordan, west of the way toward the setting of the sun, in the land of the Canaanite who dwells in the Arabah, opposite Gilgal, beside the oaks of Moreh?

For you are crossing over the Jordan to enter and take possession of the land that the Lord, God of you all, is giving to you; and you will take possession of it and dwell in it.

You shall be careful to do all the statutes and the ordinances that I am setting before you all today.
