Deuteronomy 10
At that time the Lord said to me, 'Hew out for yourself two tablets of stone like the first, and come up to me on the mountain, and make yourself an ark of wood.
And I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets that you broke, and you shall place them in the ark.
And I made an ark of acacia wood, and I hewed two stone tablets like the first ones, and I went up the mountain with the two tablets in my hand.
And he wrote on the tablets according to the first writing, the ten words that the Lord spoke to you all on the mountain out of the midst of the fire on the day of the assembly; and the Lord gave them to me.
And I turned and came down from the mountain, and I placed the tablets in the ark that I had made, and there they are, as the Lord commanded me.
And the Israelites journeyed from Beeroth-bene-jaakan to Moserah. There Aaron died, and there he was buried; and his son Eleazar served as priest in his place.
From there they set out to Gudgodah, and from Gudgodah to Jotbathah, a land of streams of water.
At that time the LORD set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister to him, and to bless in his name, to this day.
Therefore Levi has no portion and inheritance with his brothers; the Lord himself is his inheritance, as the Lord your God spoke to him.
And I stood on the mountain as in the first days, forty days and forty nights, and the LORD listened to me at that time also; the LORD was not willing to destroy you.
And the LORD said to me: 'Arise, go on the journey before the people, so that they may enter and possess the land that I swore to their fathers to give them.'
And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you, but only to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul?
to keep the commandments of the Lord and his statutes, which I am commanding you today, for your good.
Behold, to the LORD your God belong the heavens and the heaven of heavens, the earth and all that is in it.
Only in your fathers did the LORD set his affection to love them, and he chose their offspring after them — you — from all peoples, as it is today.
Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and stiffen your neck no longer.
For the Lord, the God of you all, he is the God of gods and the Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is not partial and does not take a bribe.
who executes justice for the orphan and the widow, and who loves the sojourner, giving him food and clothing.
And you shall love the sojourner, for sojourners you were in the land of Egypt.
You shall fear the Lord your God; him you shall serve, and to him you shall hold fast, and by his name you shall swear.
He is your praise, and he is your God, who has done for you these great and awesome things that your eyes have seen.
With seventy persons your fathers went down to Egypt, and now the LORD your God has made you as the stars of the heavens in multitude.
