Amos 9
I saw the Lord standing by the altar, / and he said, 'Strike the capital so that the thresholds shake! / Cut them off at the head of all of them; / and their survivors I will kill with the sword. / Not one of them shall flee; not one survivor of them shall escape.'
If they dig into Sheol, from there my hand will take them; and if they ascend to the heavens, from there I will bring them down.
And if they hide on top of Mount Carmel, / from there I will search and take them; / and if they hide from my eyes on the floor of the sea, / from there I will command the serpent, and it shall bite them.
And if they go into captivity before their enemies, from there I will command the sword, and it will kill them; and I will set my eye upon them for harm and not for good.
The Lord GOD of hosts, / who touches the earth and it melts, / and all who dwell in it mourn; / and it rises entirely like the Nile and sinks like the Nile of Egypt —
The one who builds his upper chambers in the heavens and founds his vault upon the earth, who calls to the waters of the sea and pours them out upon the face of the earth — LORD is his name.
Are you not like the Cushites to me, O people of Israel? declares the LORD. / Did I not bring Israel up from the land of Egypt, / and the Philistines from Caphtor, / and Aram from Kir?
Behold, the eyes of the Lord GOD are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from the face of the ground; except that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob — the declaration of the LORD.
For behold, I am commanding, and I will shake the house of Israel among all the nations as one shakes a sieve, and not a pebble will fall to the ground.
All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, / those who say, 'The calamity shall not come near and shall not confront us.'
In that day I will raise up the fallen booth of David, and I will repair their breaches and raise up his ruins, and rebuild it as in the days of old.
so that they may possess the remnant of Edom / and all the nations over whom my name is called, / declares the LORD who does this.
Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, / when the plowman shall overtake the reaper, / and the grape-treader the sower of seed; / and the mountains shall drip with new wine, / and all the hills shall flow.
And I will restore the captivity of my people Israel, / and they shall build the desolate cities and inhabit them; / they shall plant vineyards and drink their wine, / and they shall make gardens and eat their fruit.
And I will plant them on their land, / and they shall never again be uprooted from their land / which I have given them, / says the LORD your God.
