Amos 2
Thus says the LORD: For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, I will not revoke it; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom to lime.
So I will send fire into Moab, and it will devour the citadels of Kerioth; and Moab will die in the tumult, amid battle cry and the sound of the ram's horn.
And I will cut off the judge from her midst, and all her officials I will kill with him, says the LORD.
Thus says the LORD: For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not revoke it, because they rejected the instruction of the LORD, and his statutes they did not keep, and their lies led them astray, after which their fathers walked.
And I will send fire against Judah, and it shall devour the citadels of Jerusalem.
Thus says the LORD: For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not revoke it — because they sell the righteous for silver, and the needy for a pair of sandals.
They trample upon the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and they pervert the way of the humble; and a man and his father go to the young woman, so as to profane my holy name.
And upon garments taken in pledge they recline beside every altar, and wine of the fined they drink in the house of their God.
Yet I — I destroyed the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from below.
And I — I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you in the wilderness forty years, to possess the land of the Amorite.
And I raised up some of your sons as prophets, and some of your young men as Nazirites. Is this not so, O sons of Israel? — declares the LORD.
And you made the Nazirites drink wine, and you commanded the prophets, saying, 'Do not prophesy.'
Behold, I myself will press you down in your place, as a cart full of sheaves presses down.
And flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong man shall not retain his strength, and the mighty warrior shall not save his life.
He who handles the bow shall not stand his ground, and the swift of foot shall not save himself, and the rider of the horse shall not save his life.
And the stout of heart among the warriors shall flee naked on that day — declares the LORD.
