2 Timothy 1
1Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, according to the promise of life that is in Christ Jesus,
2To Timothy, beloved child: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
3I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with a pure conscience, as unceasingly I have remembrance concerning you in my prayers night and day,
4longing to see you, remembering your tears, so that I may be filled with joy.
5having received a reminder of the sincere faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded that it is in you also.
6For which reason I remind you to rekindle the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands;
7For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice, but of power and love and self-discipline.
8Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel according to the power of God;
9who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before times eternal,
10and now made manifest through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished indeed death, but brought to light life and immortality through the gospel;
11for which I myself was appointed a herald and an apostle and a teacher of the Gentiles;
12For which reason I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that he is able to guard my deposit until that day.
13Hold to the pattern of sound words that you heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus;
14Guard the good deposit through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.
15You know this, that all those in Asia turned away from me, among whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes.
16May the Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chain,
17but when he arrived in Rome, he eagerly sought me out and found me;
18May the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord on that day. And how much he served in Ephesus, you know very well.
