2 Samuel 6
1And David again gathered all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand.
2And David arose and went, and all the people who were with him, from Baale-judah, to bring up from there the ark of God, over which the name of the Lord of hosts is called, who dwells upon the cherubim.
3They set the ark of God on a new cart and carried it from the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill, and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, were guiding the new cart.
4And they carried it from the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill, with the ark of God; and Ahio was walking before the ark.
5And David and all the house of Israel were celebrating before the Lord with all kinds of fir-wood instruments, with lyres and harps and tambourines and castanets and cymbals.
6When they came to the threshing floor of Nacon, Uzzah reached out toward the ark of God and took hold of it, for the oxen had stumbled.
7And the anger of the Lord burned against Uzzah, and God struck him down there on account of his irreverence; and he died there beside the ark of God.
8And David was angry because the LORD had burst forth with an outburst against Uzzah, and he called that place Perez-uzza to this day.
9And David feared the Lord on that day, and said, 'How shall the ark of the Lord come to me?'
10So David was not willing to bring the ark of the Lord to himself in the city of David, but David diverted it to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.
11And the ark of the LORD remained in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite three months, and the LORD blessed Obed-edom and all his household.
12And it was told to King David, saying, 'The Lord has blessed the house of Obed-edom and all that belongs to him, on account of the ark of God.' So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom to the city of David with rejoicing.
13And when those who carried the ark of the Lord had taken six steps, David sacrificed an ox and a fattened animal.
14And David was dancing with all his might before the LORD, and David was girded with a linen ephod.
15And David and all the house of Israel were bringing up the ark of the Lord with shouting and with the sound of the shofar.
16As the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal daughter of Saul looked down through the window and saw King David leaping and whirling before the LORD, and she despised him in her heart.
17And they brought in the ark of the LORD and set it in its place inside the tent that David had pitched for it; and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.
18When David had finished offering up the burnt offering and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord of Hosts.
19And he distributed to all the people, to all the throng of Israel, both man and woman -- to each a loaf of bread, and a date-cake, and a raisin cake. Then all the people went away, each to his house.
20And David returned to bless his household; and Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, 'How distinguished was the king of Israel today, who uncovered himself today before the eyes of his servants' maidservants, as one of the worthless men uncovers himself!'
21David said to Michal, 'Before the Lord, who chose me rather than your father and all his house to appoint me as ruler over the people of Israel, the Lord's people -- before the Lord I will celebrate.'
22And I will make myself even more contemptible than this, and I will be lowly in my own eyes, and with the maidservants of whom you spoke, with them I will be honored.
23And Michal the daughter of Saul had no child to the day of her death.
