2 Chronicles 8
1And at the end of twenty years, in which Solomon had built the house of the Lord and his own house,
2Solomon rebuilt the cities that Huram had given to him, and settled the sons of Israel there.
3And Solomon went to Hamath-zobah and prevailed over it.
4He built Tadmor in the wilderness and all the storage cities that he built in Hamath.
5He also built Upper Beth-horon and Lower Beth-horon, fortified cities with walls, gates, and bars.
6also Baalath and all the storage cities that belonged to Solomon, and all the chariot cities and the cavalry cities, and all that Solomon desired to build in Jerusalem and in Lebanon and in all the land of his dominion.
7All the people who were left from the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, who were not of Israel —
8From their descendants who were left after them in the land, whom the sons of Israel had not destroyed, Solomon conscripted them as forced labor to this day.
9But from the people of Israel Solomon made no slaves for his work; they were soldiers, and his chief officers and commanders of his chariots and his cavalry.
10And these were the chief officers of King Solomon's governors, two hundred and fifty, who ruled over the people.
11Solomon brought Pharaoh's daughter up from the City of David to the house that he had built for her, for he said, 'No wife of mine shall dwell in the house of David king of Israel, for the places to which the ark of the Lord has come are holy.'
12Then Solomon offered burnt offerings to the Lord on the altar of the Lord that he had built before the vestibule.
13according to the requirement of each day, offering up as Moses had commanded, for the Sabbaths and for the new moons and for the appointed feasts three times in the year: at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and at the Feast of Weeks, and at the Feast of Booths.
14And he appointed the divisions of the priests for their service, and the Levites for their posts to praise and to minister before the priests, according to the duty of each day; and the gatekeepers by their divisions for each gate, for so was the commandment of David, the man of God.
15And they did not deviate from the commandment of the king concerning the priests and the Levites in any matter, or concerning the treasuries.
16So all the work of Solomon was completed from the day the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid until it was finished; the house of the Lord was fully built.
17Then Solomon went to Ezion-geber and to Elath on the shore of the sea in the land of Edom.
18And Huram sent to him by the hand of his servants ships and servants who know the sea; and they came with the servants of Solomon to Ophir, and took from there four hundred and fifty talents of gold, and brought it to King Solomon.
