2 Chronicles 31

1And when all this was finished, all Israel who were found in the cities of Judah went out and broke the sacred pillars, cut down the Asherah poles, tore down the high places and the altars throughout all Judah and Benjamin, and in Ephraim and Manasseh, until they had finished. Then all the children of Israel returned, each to his possession, to their cities.

2And Hezekiah appointed the divisions of the priests and the Levites according to their divisions, each according to his service, for the priests and for the Levites, for the burnt offering and for the peace offerings, to minister and to give thanks and to praise in the gates of the camps of the LORD.

3And the king's portion from his possessions was for the burnt offerings: for the burnt offerings of the morning and the evening, and the burnt offerings for the Sabbaths and the new moons and the appointed festivals, as it is written in the law of the LORD.

4And he commanded the people who lived in Jerusalem to give the portion of the priests and the Levites, so that they might devote themselves to the law of the LORD.

5And when the decree spread abroad, the Israelites brought in abundance the firstfruits of grain, new wine, olive oil, and honey, and all the produce of the field and the tithe of everything in abundance.

6And the children of Israel and Judah who lived in the cities of Judah also brought the tithe of cattle and flocks, and the tithe of holy things consecrated to the LORD their God, and they laid them in heaps upon heaps.

7In the third month they began to pile up the heaps, and in the seventh month they finished.

8And Hezekiah and the officials came and saw the heaps, and they blessed the LORD and his people Israel.

9And Hezekiah questioned the priests and the Levites about the heaps.

10And Azariah the priest, the chief of the house of Zadok, answered him and said, 'Since the contribution began to be brought to the house of the LORD, they have eaten and been satisfied and there is a great surplus, for the LORD has blessed his people, and this great abundance is the remainder.'

11And Hezekiah commanded that storerooms be prepared in the house of the LORD, and they prepared them.

12And they brought the contribution and the tithe and the dedicated things faithfully. And over them was Conaniah the Levite as officer, and Shimei his brother was second.

13And Jehiel, Azaziah, Nahath, Asahel, Jerimoth, Jozabad, Eliel, Ismachiah, Mahath, and Benaiah were overseers under the authority of Conaniah and Shimei his brother, by the appointment of Hezekiah the king and Azariah the director of the house of God.

14And Kore son of Imnah, the Levite, the gatekeeper of the east, was over the freewill offerings of God, to distribute the contribution to the LORD and the most holy things.

15And under his direction were Eden, Miniamin, Jeshua, Shemaiah, Amariah, and Shecaniah, in the cities of the priests, faithfully distributing portions to their brothers, old and young alike.

16Besides those enrolled in the genealogical register for males, from three years old and upward, to all who entered the house of the LORD for the daily allotment for their service, in their watches, according to their divisions.

17And the enrollment of the priests was according to their ancestral households; and the Levites from twenty years old and upward were in their duties, by their divisions.

18And to enroll in the genealogy all their little ones, their wives, their sons, and their daughters — for the whole assembly — for in their faithfulness they consecrated themselves to holiness.

19And for the sons of Aaron the priests, who were in the fields of the pastureland of their cities, in each and every city, men who were designated by name were to give portions to every male among the priests and to all who were enrolled among the Levites.

20And Hezekiah did this throughout all Judah, and he did what was good and right and faithful before the LORD his God.

21And in all the work that he undertook in the service of the house of God, and in the law and in the commandment, to seek his God, with all his heart he acted and prospered.
