2 Chronicles 17
1And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his place, and he strengthened himself over Israel.
2He placed troops in all the fortified cities of Judah and set garrisons in the land of Judah and in the cities of Ephraim that Asa his father had captured.
3And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, for he walked in the earlier ways of David his father and did not seek the Baals.
4For he sought the God of his fathers and walked in his commandments, and not after the practices of Israel.
5And the LORD established the kingdom in his hand, and all Judah brought tribute to Jehoshaphat, and he had riches and glory in abundance.
6His heart was lifted up in the ways of the Lord; and furthermore he removed the high places and the Asherah poles from Judah.
7In the third year of his reign he sent his officials Ben-hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel, and Micaiah to teach in the cities of Judah.
8With them were the Levites: Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah, and Tobadonijah the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram the priests.
9And they taught in Judah, and the scroll of the law of the Lord was with them; and they went through all the cities of Judah and taught among the people.
10And the dread of the Lord came upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were around Judah, and they did not make war with Jehoshaphat.
11And some of the Philistines were bringing tribute and silver in loads to Jehoshaphat; and the Arabs also were bringing him flocks: seven thousand seven hundred rams and seven thousand seven hundred male goats.
12And Jehoshaphat kept growing greater and greater, and he built fortresses and store-cities in Judah.
13And he had great stores of work in the cities of Judah, and men of war, mighty warriors, in Jerusalem.
14These are their musters by their ancestral houses: of Judah, the commanders of thousands - Adnah the commander, and with him three hundred thousand mighty warriors;
15And under his command was Johanan the commander, and with him two hundred eighty thousand.
16And next to him was Amasiah son of Zichri, who had volunteered himself to the Lord, and with him two hundred thousand mighty warriors.
17And from Benjamin, Eliada, a mighty man of valor, and with him two hundred thousand armed with bow and shield.
18And under his command was Jehozabad, and with him one hundred eighty thousand armed for war.
19These were the ones who served the king, besides those whom the king had placed in the fortified cities throughout all Judah.
