Kings 6
In the four hundred and eightieth year after the sons of Israel came out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv, which is the second month, he built the house for the LORD.
And the house that King Solomon built for the LORD — sixty cubits was its length, and twenty its breadth, and thirty cubits its height.
And the vestibule in front of the nave of the house: twenty cubits was its length, corresponding to the width of the house; and ten cubits was its width before the house.
And he made for the house windows with frames, narrowed.
And he built against the wall of the house a side extension all around the walls of the house, for the main hall and for the inner sanctuary; and he made side chambers all around.
The side structure — the lower story, five cubits wide; the middle, six cubits wide; and the third, seven cubits wide — for he had provided offsets for the house all around on the outside, so that the beams would not hold on the walls of the house.
And the house, while it was being built, was built with whole stone from the quarry, and hammers and the axe and all iron implements were not heard in the house while it was being built.
The door to the middle side chamber was on the right side of the house; and by stairways they went up to the middle story, and from the middle to the third.
And he built the house and completed it; and he roofed the house with beams and rows of cedar.
And he built the side-chambers against the whole house, five cubits high, and they held fast to the house with cedar timbers.
And the word of the LORD came to Solomon, saying:
This house that you are building — if you will walk in my statutes, and carry out my ordinances, and keep all my commandments by walking in them, then I will establish my word with you, which I spoke to David your father.
And I will dwell in the midst of the sons of Israel, and I will not forsake my people Israel.
And Solomon built the house and finished it.
And he built the walls of the house on the inside with cedar boards; from the floor of the house to the walls of the ceiling, he overlaid them with wood on the inside; and he overlaid the floor of the house with cypress boards.
And he built twenty cubits of the rear of the house with cedar boards, from the floor to the walls, and built it on the inside as the inner sanctuary, as the Holy of Holies.
And forty cubits was the house; it was the main hall before.
And cedar was inside the house — carving of gourds and open flowers; the whole was cedar, no stone was seen.
And the inner sanctuary within the house, on the inside, he prepared to place there the ark of the covenant of the LORD.
And before the inner sanctuary — twenty cubits long and twenty cubits wide and twenty cubits high — he overlaid it with pure gold; and he overlaid the cedar altar.
And Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold; and he attached gold chains before the inner sanctuary, and overlaid it with gold.
And all the house he overlaid with gold, until all the house was complete; and the whole altar that belonged to the inner sanctuary he overlaid with gold.
And he made in the inner sanctuary two cherubim of olive wood, ten cubits in height.
And five cubits was the one wing of the cherub, and five cubits the wing of the second cherub — ten cubits from the tips of his wings to the tips of his wings.
And ten cubits was the second cherub; one measure and one form for both cherubim.
The height of the one cherub was ten cubits, and likewise the second cherub.
And he placed the cherubim in the midst of the inner house, and the cherubim spread out their wings, and a wing of the one touched the wall, and a wing of the second cherub was touching the other wall; and their wings toward the midst of the house — wing touching wing.
And he overlaid the cherubim with gold.
And all the walls of the house all around he carved with engravings — cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers — on the inner and on the outer.
And the floor of the house he overlaid with gold, within and without.
And for the entrance of the inner sanctuary he made doors of olive wood; the pilaster and doorposts were five-sided.
And the two doors were of olive wood; and he carved on them carved work of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold; and he spread the gold upon the cherubim and upon the palm trees.
And likewise he made for the entrance of the main hall doorposts of olive wood, of a fourth part.
And two doors of cypress wood: two leaves of the one door were folding, and two leaves of the second door were folding.
And he carved cherubim and palm trees and open flowers, and overlaid it with gold applied evenly upon the carved work.
And he built the inner court — three courses of dressed stone and one course of cedar beams.
In the fourth year the house of the LORD was founded, in the month of Ziv.
And in the eleventh year, in the month of Bul — that is, the eighth month — the house was finished in all its parts and all its specifications; and he built it in seven years.
