Chronicles 5
And the sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel — for he was the firstborn, but when he defiled his father's bed, his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph son of Israel — and not to be enrolled as the firstborn.
For Judah prevailed among his brothers, and the leader was from him; yet the birthright belonged to Joseph.
The sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.
The sons of Joel: Shemaiah his son, Gog his son, Shimei his son.
Micah his son, Reaiah his son, Baal his son.
Beerah his son, whom Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria carried into exile — he was the leader of the Reubenites.
And his brothers according to their clans, as enrolled by their generations: the chief was Jeiel, and Zechariah.
And Bela son of Azaz son of Shema son of Joel, who dwelt in Aroer, and as far as Nebo and Baal-meon.
And to the east he settled as far as the entrance of the wilderness, from the Euphrates River, for their livestock had multiplied in the land of Gilead.
In the days of Saul they made war with the Hagrites, and they fell by their hand, and they dwelt in their tents throughout all the face of the east of Gilead.
And the sons of Gad dwelt opposite them in the land of Bashan, as far as Salecah.
Joel the chief, and Shapham the second, and Janai and Shaphat in Bashan.
And their brothers by the house of their fathers: Michael, Meshullam, Sheba, Jorai, Jacan, Zia, and Eber — seven.
These are the sons of Abihail son of Huri son of Jaroah son of Gilead son of Michael son of Jeshishai son of Jahdo son of Buz.
Ahi son of Abdiel son of Guni, chief of the house of their fathers.
And they dwelt in Gilead, in Bashan and its daughter-towns, and in all the pasture lands of Sharon, to their borders.
All of them were enrolled in the days of Jotham king of Judah and in the days of Jeroboam king of Israel.
The sons of Reuben and the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh — men of valor, bearing shield and sword and treading the bow, trained for war — forty-four thousand seven hundred and sixty, going out to war.
And they made war with the Hagrites: Jetur, Naphish, and Nodab.
And they were helped against them, and the Hagrites and all who were with them were given into their hand, for to God they cried out in the battle, and he was entreated for them, for they trusted in him.
And they captured their livestock: their camels fifty thousand, and sheep two hundred fifty thousand, and donkeys two thousand, and persons one hundred thousand.
For many slain fell, for the war was from God. And they settled in their place until the exile.
The sons of the half-tribe of Manasseh dwelt in the land from Bashan to Baal-Hermon, Senir, and Mount Hermon — they were numerous.
And these were the heads of their ancestral houses: Epher, Ishi, Eliel, Azriel, Jeremiah, Hodaviah, and Jahdiel — mighty warriors, men of renown, heads of their ancestral houses.
And they acted faithlessly against the God of their fathers, and went whoring after the gods of the peoples of the land, whom God had destroyed before them.
And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria, and he exiled them — the Reubenite, the Gadite, and the half-tribe of Manasseh — and brought them to Halah, Habor, Hara, and the River of Gozan, to this day.
