Chronicles 29

And David the king said to all the assembly, 'Solomon my son — the one whom God has chosen — is young and inexperienced, and the work is great; for the temple is not for a man, but for the Lord God.'

With all my strength I have prepared for the house of my God: gold for gold work, and silver for silver, and bronze for bronze, iron for iron, and wood for wood; onyx stones and stones for setting, turquoise stones and variegated stones, every precious stone, and alabaster stones in abundance.

Moreover, in my devotion to the house of my God, I have a personal treasure of gold and silver, which I have given for the house of my God above and beyond all that I have prepared for the holy sanctuary.

Three thousand talents of gold from the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the buildings.

For gold for golden work and for silver for silver work and for all work by the hands of craftsmen — who is willing to consecrate his hand today to the LORD?

Then the leaders of the ancestral houses willingly gave, as did the leaders of the tribes of Israel, the commanders of the thousands and hundreds, and the officials in charge of the king's work.

And they gave for the service of the house of God: gold five thousand talents and ten thousand darics; and silver ten thousand talents; and bronze eighteen thousand talents; and iron one hundred thousand talents.

And whoever had precious stones with him gave them to the treasury of the house of the LORD, into the care of Jehiel the Gershonite.

And the people rejoiced because of their freewill offerings, for with a whole heart they had offered willingly to the LORD; and also David the king rejoiced with great joy.

And David blessed the LORD in the sight of all the assembly; and David said, 'Blessed are you, O LORD, God of Israel our father, from everlasting to everlasting.'

Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the splendor and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and on earth is yours. Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom, and you are exalted as head above all.

Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are strength and might, and it is in your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone.

And now, our God, we give thanks to you and praise your glorious name.

For who am I, and who is my people, that we should have the strength to offer willingly like this? For everything is from you, and we have given you only what comes from your own hand.

For we are sojourners before you, and temporary residents, like all our ancestors. Our days upon the earth are like a shadow, and there is no lasting hope.

O LORD our God, all this abundance that we have prepared to build you a house for your holy name — it is from your hand, and all is yours.

And I know, my God, that you test the heart and take pleasure in uprightness. In the integrity of my heart I have willingly given all these things. And now I have seen your people present here offering willingly to you with joy.

O LORD, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our ancestors, keep this forever as the inclination of the thoughts of the heart of your people, and direct their hearts toward you.

And to Solomon my son give a whole heart to keep your commandments, your testimonies, and your statutes, and to do everything, and to build the temple which I have prepared.

Then David said to all the assembly: Bless the LORD, God of you all. And all the assembly blessed the LORD, God of their ancestors; and they bowed low and prostrated themselves before the LORD and before the king.

And they sacrificed to the LORD, offering burnt offerings to the LORD on the day following that day — a thousand bulls, a thousand rams, a thousand lambs — with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel.

And they ate and drank before the LORD on that day with great joy; and they made Solomon son of David king a second time, and anointed him before the LORD as leader, and Zadok as priest.

And Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king in place of David his father, and he prospered; and all Israel obeyed him.

And all the officials, the mighty men, and also all the sons of King David pledged allegiance to Solomon the king.

And the LORD magnified Solomon exceedingly before the eyes of all Israel, and bestowed upon him such royal majesty as had not been upon any king before him over Israel.

And David son of Jesse reigned over all Israel.

The days that he reigned over Israel were forty years — in Hebron he reigned seven years and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three.

And he died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honor; and Solomon his son reigned in his place.

Now the events of David the king, the former and the latter — they are written in the annals of Samuel the seer, and in the annals of Nathan the prophet, and in the annals of Gad the seer.

— including all the accounts of his reign and his might, and the events that passed over him and over Israel and over all the kingdoms of the earth.
