1 Chronicles 26

¹For the divisions of the gatekeepers: of the Korahites, Meshelemiah son of Kore, of the sons of Asaph.

²And of Meshelemiah the sons: Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth.

³Elam the fifth, Johanan the sixth, Eliehoenai the seventh.

⁴And to Obed-edom were sons: Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sachar the fourth, and Nethanel the fifth.

⁵Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peullethai the eighth; for God blessed him.

⁶And to Shemaiah his son were born sons who ruled over their father's house, for they were men of great valor.

⁷The sons of Shemaiah: Othni, Rephael, and Obed, Elzabad -- his brothers, able men -- Elihu and Semachiah.

⁸All these were from the sons of Obed-edom; they and their sons and their brothers were men of valor, fit for service — sixty-two for Obed-edom.

⁹And of Meshelemiah, sons and brothers, able men: eighteen.

¹⁰And of Hosah, from the sons of Merari, sons: Shimri the chief -- for he was not the firstborn, but his father set him as the chief.

¹¹Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth; all sons and brothers of Hosah were thirteen.

¹²According to these divisions of the gatekeepers, the chief men had duties corresponding to their brothers, to minister in the house of the Lord.

¹³And they cast lots, small and great alike, for their ancestral houses, gate by gate.

¹⁴And the lot fell eastward to Shelemiah. And Zechariah his son, a counselor with wisdom, they cast lots, and his lot came out northward.

¹⁵to Obed-edom the south, and to his sons the storehouse.

¹⁶to Shuppim and to Hosah the west, with the Shallecheth Gate on the ascending highway, watch corresponding to watch.

¹⁷For the east, the Levites were six; for the north, four per day; for the south, four per day; and for the storehouses, two and two.

¹⁸For the Parbar to the west: four; for the highway: two; for the Parbar.

¹⁹These were the divisions of the gatekeepers, from the sons of the Korahites and from the sons of Merari.

²⁰And the Levites: Ahijah over the treasuries of the house of God and the treasuries of the holy things.

²¹The sons of Ladan, the sons of the Gershonite, belonging to Ladan: the heads of the ancestral houses of Ladan the Gershonite -- Jehieli.

²²The sons of Jehieli: Zetham and Joel his brother over the treasuries of the house of the LORD.

²³for the Amramites, for the Izharites, for the Hebronites, and for the Uzzielites.

²⁴And Shebuel son of Gershom son of Moses was chief over the treasuries.

²⁵And his brothers, of the line of Eliezer: Rehabiah his son, and Isaiah his son, and Joram his son, and Zichri his son, and Shelomoth his son.

²⁶He—Shelomoth and his brothers—was over all the treasuries of the consecrated things which David the king, and the heads of the fathers, the commanders of the thousands and the hundreds, and the commanders of the army, had consecrated.

²⁷From the battles and from the plunder they had consecrated, to strengthen the house of the LORD.

²⁸And everything that Samuel the seer had consecrated, and Saul son of Kish, and Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah — all that any had consecrated was under the charge of Shelomith and his brothers.

²⁹Of the Izharites: Chenaniah and his sons for the outer work over Israel, as officials and as judges.

³⁰For the Hebronites: Hashabiah and his brothers — sons of valor, one thousand seven hundred — were over the charge of Israel west of the Jordan, for all the work of the LORD and for the service of the king.

³¹Of the Hebronites, Jeriah was the chief — the Hebronites, by their genealogical records, for the ancestral houses. In the fortieth year of David's reign they were sought out, and there were found among them warriors of valor at Jazer in Gilead.

³²And his brothers, valiant men, two thousand seven hundred, heads of ancestral houses — David the king appointed them over the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh, for every matter of God and matter of the king.
