1 Chronicles 24

¹And for the sons of Aaron, their divisions: the sons of Aaron were Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.

²And Nadab and Abihu died before their father and had no sons, so Eleazar and Ithamar served as priests.

³And David divided them, with Zadok of the sons of Eleazar and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, for their appointed offices in their service.

⁴And the sons of Eleazar were found to be more numerous in chiefs than the sons of Ithamar, and they were divided: for the sons of Eleazar, sixteen heads of fathers' households, and for the sons of Ithamar, eight.

⁵And they divided them by lots, these with those, for there were officers of the sanctuary and officers of God from among the sons of Eleazar and from among the sons of Ithamar.

⁶And Shemaiah son of Nethanel the scribe registered them, from the Levites, before the king and the officials, and Zadok the priest and Ahimelech son of Abiathar and the heads of the fathers' houses for the priests and for the Levites: one ancestral house taken for Eleazar, and one taken for Ithamar.

⁷The first lot came out for Jehoiarib; the second for Jedaiah.

⁸the third for Harim, the fourth for Seorim.

⁹the fifth for Malchijah, the sixth for Mijamin.

¹⁰to Hakkoz the seventh, to Abijah the eighth.

¹¹the seventh for Hakkoz, the eighth for Abijah.

¹²to Eliashib the eleventh, to Jakim the twelfth.

¹³to Huppah the thirteenth, to Jeshebeab the fourteenth.

¹⁴the eleventh for Eliashib, the twelfth for Jakim.

¹⁵the seventeenth for Hezir, the eighteenth for Happizzez.

¹⁶to Pethahiah the nineteenth, to Jehezkel the twentieth.

¹⁷To Jachin the twenty-first, to Gamul the twenty-second.

¹⁸the twenty-first for Jachin, the twenty-second for Gamul.

¹⁹These were their appointed duties in their service — to enter the house of the LORD according to their ordinance as established by their father Aaron, as the LORD, God of Israel, commanded him.

²⁰And of the remaining sons of Levi: of the sons of Amram, Shubael; of the sons of Shubael, Jehdeiah.

²¹These are their assigned duties for their service to come to the house of the Lord, according to their ordinance, through Aaron their father, as the Lord, God of Israel, commanded him.

²²For the Izharites: Shelomoth; for the sons of Shelomoth: Jahath.

²³And the sons of Jeriah: Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, Jekameam the fourth.

²⁴Of the Izharites: Shelomoth; of the sons of Shelomoth: Jahath.

²⁵The brother of Micah: Isshiah; of the sons of Isshiah: Zechariah.

²⁶The brother of Micah was Isshiah; of the sons of Isshiah: Zechariah.

²⁷The sons of Merari through Jaaziah his son: Shoham, Zaccur, and Ibri.

²⁸For Mahli: Eleazar, but he had no sons.

²⁹The sons of Merari: by Jaaziah; his sons: Shoham, Zaccur, and Ibri.

³⁰And the sons of Mushi: Mahli, and Eder, and Jerimoth. These were the sons of the Levites according to their fathers'\'' houses.

³¹They also cast lots in correspondence with their brothers, the sons of Aaron, before David the king and Zadok and Ahimelech and the heads of the ancestral houses of the priests and of the Levites — the chief of the ancestral house just like his youngest brother.
