1 Chronicles 18

1And after this, David struck the Philistines and subdued them, and he took Gath and its daughter towns from the hand of the Philistines.

2And he struck Moab; and the Moabites became servants of David, bearing tribute.

3And David struck Hadadezer king of Zobah as far as Hamath, when he went to establish his dominion at the Euphrates River.

4And David captured from him a thousand chariots, seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand foot soldiers; and David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but left a hundred of them.

5And the Arameans of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, and David struck among the Arameans twenty-two thousand men.

6And David placed in Aram of Damascus, and Aram became David's servants, bearing tribute. And the LORD gave David victory wherever he went.

7And David took the gold shields that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

8And from Tibhath and from Cun, cities of Hadadezer, David took very much bronze; with it Solomon made the bronze sea, the pillars, and the vessels of bronze.

9And Toi king of Hamath heard that David had defeated all the army of Hadadezer king of Zobah.

10He sent his son Hadoram to King David to greet him and congratulate him because he had fought against Hadadezer and defeated him — for Hadadezer had been at war with Toi — and with all kinds of articles of gold, silver, and bronze.

11These also King David consecrated to the LORD, together with the silver and the gold that he had taken from all the nations: from Edom, Moab, the sons of Ammon, the Philistines, and Amalek.

12And Abishai son of Zeruiah struck Edom in the Valley of Salt, eighteen thousand.

13And he placed garrisons in Edom, and all Edom became servants to David. And the LORD gave David victory wherever he went.

14And David reigned over all Israel, and he administered justice and righteousness for all his people.

15And Joab son of Zeruiah was over the army, and Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was recorder.

16And Zadok son of Ahitub, and Abimelech son of Abiathar, were priests; and Shavsha was secretary.

17And Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were the chief ministers at the king's side.
