Chronicles 13
And David took counsel with the commanders of thousands and hundreds, with every chief officer.
And David said to all the assembly of Israel, 'If it is good to you and from the LORD our God, let us spread abroad and send to our brothers remaining in all the territories of Israel, and with them the priests and the Levites in the cities of their pasturelands, that they may gather to us.'
And let us bring the ark of our God back to us, for we did not seek him in the days of Saul.
And all the assembly said to do so, for the word was right in the eyes of all the people.
And David assembled all Israel, from Shihor of Egypt to the entrance of Hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim.
And David and all Israel went up to Baalah, to Kiriath-jearim that belongs to Judah, to bring up from there the ark of God the Lord, who is enthroned upon the cherubim, over which his name is proclaimed.
And they mounted the ark of God on a new cart from the house of Abinadab; and Uzzah and Ahio were driving the cart.
And David and all Israel were celebrating before God with all strength, with songs, with lyres, with harps, with tambourines, with cymbals, and with trumpets.
And they came to the threshing floor of Chidon, and Uzzah stretched out his hand to grasp the ark, for the oxen had stumbled.
And the anger of the Lord burned against Uzzah, and he struck him down because he had stretched out his hand over the ark, and he died there before God.
And David was angry because the LORD had broken out with an outburst against Uzzah; and he called that place Perez-uzza, to this day.
And David feared God on that day, saying, 'How shall I bring the ark of God to me?'
And David did not bring the ark to himself, to the City of David, but turned it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.
And the ark of God remained with the household of Obed-edom, in his house, three months; and the Lord blessed the house of Obed-edom and all that he had.
