Chronicles 12
And these are those who came to David at Ziklag, while he was still kept away because of Saul son of Kish; and they were among the warriors, helpers in battle.
They were armed with bows and could use both the right and left hand with stones and with arrows with the bow; they were from the brothers of Saul, from Benjamin.
The chief Ahiezer and Joash, the sons of Shemaah the Gibeathite; Jeziel and Pelet, the sons of Azmaveth; Beracah, and Jehu the Anathothite.
Jeremiah, Jahaziel, Johanan, and Jozabad the Gederathite.
Eluzai, Jerimoth, Bealiah, Shemariah, and Shephatiah the Haruphite.
Elkanah, Isshiah, Azarel, Joezer, and Jashobeam, the Korahites.
Joelah and Zebadiah, sons of Jeroham from Gedor.
And from the Gadites there separated themselves to David at the stronghold in the wilderness—mighty men of valor, warriors trained for battle, bearing shield and spear; and their faces were like the face of a lion, and like gazelles on the mountains, swift.
Ezer the first, Obadiah the second, Eliab the third.
Mishmannah the fourth, Jeremiah the fifth.
Attai the sixth, Eliel the seventh.
Johanan the eighth, Elzabad the ninth.
Jeremiah the tenth, Machbannai the eleventh.
These were of the sons of Gad, chiefs of the army; the least was a match for a hundred, and the greatest for a thousand.
These are they who crossed the Jordan in the first month, when it was overflowing all its banks, and they put to flight all those in the valleys to the east and to the west.
And men came from the sons of Benjamin and Judah to the stronghold, to David.
And David went out before them and answered and said to them, 'If for peace you have come to me to help me, my heart shall be with you as one; but if to betray me to my adversaries, when there is no violence in my hands, may the God of our fathers see and judge.'
And a spirit clothed Amasai, chief of the Thirty, 'To you, David, and with you, son of Jesse! Peace, peace to you, and peace to the one who helps you! For your God helps you.' And David received them and made them commanders of the troop.
And from Manasseh some defected to David when he came with the Philistines against Saul in battle; but they did not help them, for the lords of the Philistines dismissed him by counsel, saying, 'At the cost of our heads he will fall back to his master Saul.'
When he went to Ziklag, there fell away to him from Manasseh: Adnah, Jozabad, Jediael, Michael, Jozabad, Elihu, and Zillethai—chiefs of thousands from Manasseh.
They helped David against the raiding band, for all of them were mighty warriors, and they became commanders in the army.
For day by day men came to David to help him, until there was a great camp, like the camp of God.
And these are the numbers of the chiefs of the armed forces who came to David at Hebron to transfer the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of the LORD.
The sons of Judah, bearing large shield and spear: six thousand eight hundred armed for battle.
From the sons of Simeon, warriors of valor for the army: seven thousand one hundred.
From the sons of Levi, four thousand six hundred.
And Jehoiada the leader of Aaron, and with him three thousand and seven hundred.
And Zadok, a young man, a mighty man of valor, and his father's house — commanders, twenty-two.
And from the sons of Benjamin, the brothers of Saul, three thousand; and until now the greater part of them had been keeping the charge of the house of Saul.
And from the sons of Ephraim, twenty thousand and eight hundred, mighty men of valor, men of renown for their ancestral house.
And from the half-tribe of Manasseh, eighteen thousand, who were designated by name to come and make David king.
And from the sons of Issachar, those with insight into the times, to know what Israel should do; their chiefs, two hundred; and all their brothers at their command.
From Zebulun, those going out to battle, drawing up for war with all weapons of war, fifty thousand, and to help without a double heart.
And from Naphtali — commanders, a thousand; and with them, with shield and spear, thirty-seven thousand.
And from Dan, those who draw up the battle line, twenty-eight thousand six hundred.
And from Asher, those who go out to the army to draw up for battle — forty thousand.
And from beyond the Jordan — from the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh — with all weapons of military service for battle, one hundred and twenty thousand.
All these were men of war, helpers of the battle line — with a whole heart they came to Hebron to make David king over all Israel. And also all the rest of Israel were of one heart to make David king.
And they remained there with David three days, eating and drinking; for their brothers had prepared for them.
And also those near to them — as far as Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali — were bringing bread on donkeys and on camels and on mules and on cattle: food, flour, fig cakes, and raisins, and wine and oil, and cattle and flocks in abundance, for there was joy in Israel.
